Hi,

My name is Pip. Sandy took me, my brother & sister into her loving care when we were only a few weeks old. As a horrid man was going to `GET RID OF US!'

I was the only pup left when my family came to look round at Pingle Farm. They fell in love with me & I them. I was very excited about going to my new loving home.

I love playing on our local field with all my pals, along with my younger brother Zak, who was also (along with his litter), taken to Sandy by the same man!

love from Pip xx

We adopted Connie and Maisie (sisters we think..but very much together) in 2007 after discovering East midlands dog rescue.

They are Labrador bitches and were ex breeding "machines" from a puppy farm. Due to the horrendous living conditions these dogs survive in, Connie had lost her sight and with the kind help of the rescue underwent an operation to remove her painful eyes, despite being blind Connie is the happiest of dogs. People are always surprised when we tell them she is blind as she can do almost everything any able bodied dog can do.

Maisie on the other hand was a very traumatised soul, she would cower in submissive fear at the sight of anyone and it took a good six months for her to trust us, but she improved day by day and today you would not recognize her from the fearful creature she was, chasing her ball and tucking into meaty bones!

Having had the pleasure to also foster a couple of these ex puppy farm brood bitches I could not recommend having one enough. Yes its hard, slow work, but the rewards you get seeing them progress everyday is amazing and there is always support from East Midlands rescue every step of the way.

Keep up the great work!

Roxy

Hi Sandy,

It's Sandra here, so pleased to see you have a website. Thought I'd send you a couple of pictures of Roxy for your success stories page.

She is the sweetest creature, and shares her food, and sofa with Sid the cat. Terrible thief though, she's had everything from the Sunday roast to birthday cakes.  She's 7 now.  We will always be grateful to you for letting us have her, and if we can ever help you, we will.

Love and best wishes; Sandra

Mitch

Mitch was born in August 04 and within three months he was left to die in a ditch left alone, loveless, cold and hungry at the side of an anonymous road in Leicester. In his short, sad life he’d suffered a broken leg that, ignored by his owner, reset itself in the wrong places.

Hope was restored to his life when he was discovered by a local good Samaritan walking their dog and taken into the tender care of East Midlands Dog Rescue.  Through their determination they raised the funds to have his leg put right though that was a difficult ordeal for both Mitch and the EMDR volunteers.  The procedure required Mitch’s leg to be broken in seven places and reset correctly with a 12 inch long metal pin.

After Mitch had recovered he found a loving home in Anstey with a kind owner and now lives a happy and full life running around and you’d never know he’d had a broken leg.
